Therapeutic Care and Relationships

Our care is rooted in consistent, trusting relationships that support each child to feel safe and understood. We use a therapeutic, PACE led approach to guide our interactions, ensuring that support is responsive, thoughtful, and grounded in each child’s individual needs and experiences.

Individualised Support Planning

Each young person’s care is carefully planned and continuously reviewed and adapted to reflect their individual communication style, sensory profile and additional developmental needs.

We work collaboratively with the team around the child, to ensure support remains consistent, structured, relevant and aligned with each young person’s evolving needs.

Structured Daily Living and Life Skills

Daily routines are used as meaningful opportunities to develop greater independence and essential life skills.

Through consistent structure and support, children are encouraged to engage in everyday activities in ways that build confidence, capability, and understanding.

We also support children to extend these skills beyond the home through involvement in local community projects, including opportunities to engage in agriculture-based activities. This helps to promote community integration, build confidence, and support young people to feel more comfortable navigating public spaces.

Regulation and Sensory Informed Environments

The environment plays a key role in supporting emotional regulation.

Our home has been purposefully designed and structured to include a range of calm, sensory-informed spaces that support children to regulate, reduce overwhelm, and engage at their own pace.

These include a dedicated sensory room, a separate kitchenette, a play therapy and calm space, and a sensory garden. We also have a separate staff office and meeting room with external access, ensuring the home environment remains comfortable, consistent, and centred around the needs of the young people.

Life Story Work and Emotional Development

We recognise that many young people come to us with complex experiences that can be difficult to understand and process.

Through therapeutic life story work, we support young people to explore and make sense of their experiences in a safe, structured, and developmentally appropriate way.

This work is introduced once the young person feels settled and supported, ensuring it is paced according to their individual readiness.

By strengthening their sense of identity and understanding, we support young people to build meaningful relationships and move forward with greater stability.
